The New Trend In Coffee
I don't really have a particular interest in having coffee nor do I have any kind of aversion to it. If offered, I'd drink it. If in the mood, I'd drink it. I am no addict of caffeine - atleast I think that's a healthy habit that I have in me.
Putting me aside, on a general note most people love coffee shops for many reasons. It fulfills an “I-need-a-jolt” need in the morning (and again in the afternoon). It also affords us that daily little luxury of indulging in a special cup of brew that is just better than whatever we make at home. But what we love most is the communal nature of a local coffee shop. It’s a place where people can meet and have candid caffeinated conversations over ice, brainstorm their next business idea with soy and agave or read the latest edition of their favorite magazine or blog.
Last week I was invited to An Incredibly Memorable Coffee Experience. Whatever I tried, I was sure I did not get enough of it, and am already planning to go back there. Some of the things that were on the menu that went around included Five Spice Shaken Iced Coffee with Thai chili, cinnamon, clove, star anise and sweetened condensed milk; Cafe Olé with dark chocolate, brown sugar and ancho and guajillo chilies; and Biscotti Coffee with almond whipped cream and simple syrup made of star anise, fennel seed, and orange zest.
While there I had the cold brewed coffee with coconut from the cold brewed coffee pick-me-ups which was really delicious. It might be a bit on the bitter side for those who do not like coffee. They add no sugar to it as that is what fresh brew is all about.
I also tried the Biscotti from hand-crafted caffeinated cocktails while there and I absolutely recommend you to try it as well if you are there!
And to add to the experience, they had sweets and savories all made from coffee - each more delicious than the other.
You can experience the cold brew parlor at Al Kut Cafe in Wyndham Grand Regency. They will have a happy hour featuring all these drinks from Sunday - Thursday between 4 to 6pm.
