Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition (June 2015)
Time has been flying. It is past mid- Ramadan, and I am so guilty of not updating the blog frequently. But, hey I have a valid excuse. I happened to be part of the Organizing Team of the Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition managing the Social Media for the event and also the company in partnership with Qatar Tourism Authority, and that's like almost 8 platforms and no less, so I barely had time for anything. For those who think Social Media is easy, it's not easy at all. Not when you have to cover 287 Exhibitors, 338 booths, 3 coffee shops, celebrity blogger visits, all happening across 6 days. Believe me, its not easy but if you can cover it all, I think you have done a great job, and for me, I felt the same. Starting the accounts with 0 followers, and then reaching where I reached in 2 months time, I think I deserve much more than a cake ;)
This was how the progress went.
I had no idea how it all fell in place but it did, and that's all that matters in the end. I am not really sure if I would like to take up the same role again but you never know, what life has in store for you.
What I learnt
Planning for Social Media is great, maybe yes you can plan things like when is the best time to post, and things like that but planning content is not a great idea at all. For one thing, with the growing technology, everything happens at such a pace, that you have no idea whether your plan is even relevant to the future because it really changes quite a lot in a month's time.
Too many hands spoil the broth. If you are going to have to take analytics of how your progress goes, find a person who can manage a platform alone without any hindrance. So not only you get consistency, but also the analytics turn out accurate.
There's many more things I know I learnt from my experience, but hey I cant give them all out here , Can I?
