Emirgan Sutis Turns One

Having put away blog writing for travel, I am back again to update you with many of my interesting experiences from the time I have been absconding from writing here. One of many was first year anniversary of Emirgan Sutis! Having ventured to their branch on Al Emadi Financial Square and dining there only to realize I would be making a return there for sure, I was pleasantly surprised when I got an invitation to join them for this wonderful occasion. Joined by my favorite fellow food bloggers - Hungry Birds Doha, Life with Karlly, and Ms Hala Co We were welcomed to the venue with much warmth, and friedliness considering how chilly the night was, we chose to dine in. But, if the weather's great I'd suggest you dine out.

We were welcomed to our starters - Borek with meat, Hummus, Mutabbal, Muhammara, Su boregi, Dolma, Mucver, Haydari, and Pita with braised meat.

A huge platter of mixed kebabs were placed in front of us! My favorite was definitely the lamb chop - it was so succulent, and let;s not forget delicious!

We were then given a choice of one main dish out of three - Iskendar Kebab, Chicken Kebab, and Sarma Beyti Kebab. Having eaten Iskendar the previous visit, I chose Sarma Beyti this time. And, if I were to go back I'd chose Iskendar all the way!

If you haven't tried them, you are seriously missing out on some authentic Turkish food coming your way. The restaurant has an extensive menu with Breakfast specials, A variety of Eggs selection, Borek , pastries, pitas, soups, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, breads, and a lot more to choose from! The prices are affordable, and the servings are huge, and might I also add they are a bit heavy especially if you are going for the kebabs and you need to go for them!

For those who want to know more about some of the dishes, here's some info:

  • Mutabbal: Grilled mashed eggplant puree mixed with tahini sauce, olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice

  • Dolma: Grape leaves stuffed with rice

  • Mucver: Zucchini Pancake

  • Haydari: Homemade plain yoghurt with mint, dill, and olive oil

  • Iskendar Kebab: Served with pita bread and yoghurt topped with melted butter

  • Sarma Beyti Kebab: Served with green peppers, griled tomatoes
