Body Lines Fitness Treatment | A Review
I had my reservation for 3 pm on a Friday Afternoon. I was very much relaxed mentally during my stay at Oryx Rotana, and that kind of really was a good start I believe.
Welcomed to the Spa by friendly smiles, I chose to opt for the Body Lines Signature Massage. Warara from Thailand was my Therapist for the day - a petite, and I must say really strong lady ( concluded from my massage experience). As soon as I was there, I was given my towel, locker, bath robe, and guided to the changing room.
Before the massage, the therapist asked me about any injuries or other conditions.Things thing that you would probably want to tell your therapist include areas of tightness or pain, allergies, and conditions like pregnancy. You can also tell them up front if you have a preference for light or firm pressure. It's best not to get a massage if you are ill.
Once done, I was lead to the Sauna where I stayed for a good 10 minutes. This was as part of the warm up process as it helps relax the muscles before the massage. The sauna was kept at a temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit which is kind of less than normal but it was good enough for my body to tolerate. While at the sauna, Warara soaked my feet in hot water, and massaged my feet for a bit. As per what she told me, this was done for my nerves to relax, and also to build a kind of friendliness with the therapist before the massage.
After this I was taken to my massage room which is a small room with everything needed to give massage to one person.
The massage began with what is called skin rolling. This technique may be uncomfortable at first and this is normal. However, the end result will lessen the tightness and relieve the underlying pain, while freeing up the muscle and allowing discomfort-free movement.
This was followed by Swedish massage which was a lot of kneading whilst applying an aromatic oil. I opted for lavender oil.
This was followed by Balinese massage - a massage with aromatic oil. In my case, I opted for lavender. The other choice given to me was lemon grass.
This was followed by Thai Massage which included a succession of arm and leg movements. The therapist was on the massage table, and really used all her strength to make the body many of the movements involved.
My massage lasted a good 1 hour, and it was really relaxing. After this I was done, and she lead me to the steam room, and asked me to stay there for a good 10 minutes, so my body pores could open up, and take in the massage oil.
It was a truly relaxing environment. The spa at Oryx Rotana may not be the best spa around Qatar but it covers the basics: gymnasium, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room. There is a separate area for men as well, and therapies are given by male therapists.
Disclaimer: I was invited for a review of the spa but as always all opinions are my own, and in no way biased.
